Does Ai deliver Good, Fast & Cheap?

In the world of advertising and production, we've long lived by the mantra "Good, Fast, Cheap - pick any two." But how does AI affect against this time-tested triangle?

The AI Reality Check

  1. AI promises revolution but delivers evolution - take Miro's background removal feature. Sure, I can now enhance my flow diagrams with cleaned-up icons, but at what cost?

  2. Time isn't saved - we try to do more. Human input is a constant, as in roughly 10 hours a day. If I stop at 5 with Ai, My competitor will, also with Ai, will outpace me.

  3. Quality undeniably improves - we're achieving superior results, Alternatively we are likely produce more, explicitly because we're unable to work less in a competitive market.

  4. Cost actually increases - those AI credits for Miro's background removal weren't free. Features we didn't need before now become essential, driving up costs.

Here's the sobering truth: Against our traditional "Good, Fast, Cheap" metric, AI still scores 2 - same as its always been. Quality is good. It can bee Faster, or produce more. I can’t see it being any cheaper - expectation rises, more cut through is required; new costs emerge.

Maybe it's time to rethink our expectations of AI. We tend to over estimate the short term & under estimate the long term.
