WORK HISTORY

I arrived in London in 2001

I started as a runner at Clear. I went from runner to Flame op, worked night shifts, then went full time at Condor. I freelanced at Rushes & MPC then headed up the small Flame department at Sapient Publicis, where I settled. Married → house → kids → dog→ The End.

Not quite.

10 years later, I started GVFX. I was one of the first Flame ops to go solo after it was set free from its hardware. I’ve been fully remote since long before Covid, building and tuning my set up.

I spent 2 years as a partner at Ark Studios → all Flame work went through GVFX & the studio kept building throughout.

BACKGROUND

How I went from Britpop to Flame

I grew up in Glasgow. I have spent my career in creative roles. Post-uni, music obsessed, I signed with Alan McGee who is famous for Creation Records, and for signing Oasis at the height of Britpop. Then there was several riotous years on the music scene. I was making videos for the band when I set my heart on Flame Op London. Fwd 20 years → here we are.

I did a masters degree [BSc Architecture, MSc Electronic Imaging] but I prefer hands on. I love that the TV industry asks ‘Can you do it?’ → no qualification required. Just get it done, that’s the buzz of making stuff. Contrasts nicely with down time, when I love to take everything to bits→ see how it works & then use it on the next production.
